The Internal Complaint Committee (ICC) of a Mahavidyalay is an important institutional body established to ensure a safe, respectful, and dignified environment for all students, teaching staff, and non-teaching employees. The committee works in accordance with the provisions of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013, and promotes awareness about the rights, responsibilities, and protection of individuals within the college campus. It provides a confidential and supportive platform for women to report complaints related to sexual harassment, discrimination, intimidation, or inappropriate behaviour. The ICC generally consists of a senior woman faculty member as the Presiding Officer, along with teaching and non-teaching staff members and, where appropriate, an external member with relevant experience. The committee receives complaints, conducts inquiries in a fair and impartial manner, maintains confidentiality, and recommends appropriate action to the competent authority whenever required. Besides addressing complaints, the ICC organizes awareness programmes, workshops, seminars, and counselling sessions to educate students and staff about gender sensitivity, respectful conduct, and prevention of harassment. It also encourages a culture of equality, mutual respect, and dignity on the campus. Through its activities, the Internal Complaint Committee contributes significantly to creating a secure, inclusive, and harassment-free academic environment. Its effective functioning strengthens students' confidence in institutional mechanisms and ensures that every member of the Mahavidyalay can pursue education and professional responsibilities with safety, dignity, and freedom.
